On June 8, 2010, the New England Society for Healthcare
Materials Management (NESHMM) will hold its Spring Educational Session at the Doubletree Hotel in Westborough, MA.
Registration is from 9:30 - 10:00.
The agenda for the day is:
10:00 - 10:10: Opening remarks by Larry Curtis, President of NESHMM.
10:10 - 11:00 Educational Session - "Green Initiatives" presented by Pat Logue, Staples,
Director of Northeast Furniture Sales, and Scott Vivian, Staples, New England Seniro Manager for Facilities Solutions.
In today's environment,
becoming more green, implementing sustainable initiatives and achieving LEED certification have all
become hot topics. Staples will present what their organization is doing today to assist their customers in obtaining these
green initiatives and goals.
11:00 - 12:00 Educational Session - "Sustainable Initiatives" presented by Hubert
Murray, Director of Sustainable Initiatives, Partners Healthcare System.
Within
a context of the drive for the highest quality of patient care, a growing public awareness of environmental issues and increasingly
stringent cost control, hospitals across the country are striving to respond to these pressures through the prism of 'sustainability'.
Capital investment in buildings and infrastructure and innovative operations programs are constituent elements of the Sustainable
Initiatives program in development at Partners HealthCare. Challenges in implementation include structuring the leadership
and organization; determining metrics and benchmarks; and how to prioritize.
1:00 - 1:30 Open Forum Discussion - "What Educational Topics Do You Want", facilitated
by Bill Butler and Andrew Baron, NESHMM Educational Committee
1:30 - 2:30 Educational Session - "Bariatric Patient Population Impacts" presented
by Andrew Baron, Divisional Manager, New England, Sizewise.
The impact of the ever-increasing Bariatric patient population is a cause for concern
to our healthcare facilities. Today there is a greater percentage of Bariatric patients in our facilities than ever before.
We will explore what this means to us and how we can be prepared to accommodate the expected changes that are necessary for
these patients.
Cost for the Educational Session is $25 for NESHMM members and $30
for non-members.
Payment can be in cash or by check. Unfortunately, we cannot accept
credit cards.
